"Aditi Iyer becomes the youngest Indian global chart-topper" declared TH, one of India's leading newspapers on May 13th. Rejoice, recommend and amplify! Her new single, titled 'Deleted Your Number' produced by Rohan Solomon, shot to #1 on the World Indie Music Top 100 and the Euro Indie Music Charts. A double whammy for Aditi Iyer! All this within a few weeks of releasing the electro-pop striker with a curious little title. As a very young artist, Aditi Iyer is perhaps the best example of an Indian girl excelling in the global music arena. FEMWAV recently spoke to Malvika Nanda heading The Big Beat artist agency, about the trailblazing growth of Aditi, her gutsy lyrics and the transformation of a trained opera singer into the world of pop and hit songs.
Even as the mainstream press is gushing over the fact that Aditi's name "appears alongside the world’s biggest pop artists, Ed Sheeran, Glass Animals, Justin Bieber " blahblah... the story of the artist is way more interesting than a manufactured pop icon or some hyperactive 'teenybopper sensation'. "From an early age Aditi has had the knack to face up to reality and what is happening around her... her lyrics have reflected and build on things good and bad" states Malvika, who believes in motivating the artist, towards freedom of expression and staying true to inspiration. "The song is based on the idea, that life is too short to care about people who do not see your value" states the The Big Beat P.R. note.
When asked about the motivation behind the song, Aditi responds by saying ”I felt like exploring a different facet of my songwriting. ‘Dollhouse’ extended a listening ear to one’s pain. 'Deleted Your Number' asks them to get over it. Musically, it resonates with a Top 40 upbeat vibe... almost akin to telling someone to dance their problems away rather than to cry about them.” Deleted Your Number, is akin to a post-EDM sound, yet what strikes through are the gutsy lyrics and the feeling of resilience, of moving on, erasing the negative, transcending towards higher ground.
Aditi Iyer wrote her first song at the age of 10 titled 'Who You Are'. Even as she began tinkering with music from a very early age, Aditi picked up the more complex aspects of western classical music by and by. Through her teens, Aditi placed emphasis on enhancing range and dexterity of her voice, putting in endless hours of practice, that usually perquisites a career in classical music. Her Youtube page is full of little tunes, jams, demos and covers recorded at different locations over the last 8 years. Very inspiring content to say the least!
In 2020, Aditi released her debut EP ‘The Girl They See' followed by 'Alien' the same year and 'Shine' and 'Doll House' in 2021. Since her debut, Aditi has steadily worked her way up, to collaborate with professionals in the music scene, notching up her sound and impact as an artist. Her latest song and it's meteoric run makes us proud and anticipating to hear more! Kudos to Aditi Iyer and The Big Beat team!
