Five 3-Month Intensive Music Production and Technology Scholarship Spots Up for Grabs
Although the presence of women and queer folk in the Indian electronic music scene is seeing a boost due to emergence of several new collectives, its learning environment remains very male-centric. Tackling the all-pervasive gender equality calls for a holistic approach that includes booking more women and queer artists, employing more women and queer professionals within the scene, putting policies that are proactive, not reactive in place to open the scene up to those aspiring to make a career in the industry, and introducing vocational programs and systems that lay the foundation of skill-building among those that find it difficult to break in.In pursuit of the latter, Global Music Institute in partnership with Wild City has announced 5 scholarships for a hands-on, practical Professional Diploma in Music Production and Technology, on campus in Greater Noida. The program will run from September 16 through to December 20, 2019.
Two of these scholarships offered will cover the tuition fees in full, and two will cover fifty percent. The diploma comprehensively covers almost the full spectrum of fundamental music production skills including DAW introduction and advanced navigation, sound design and synthesis, mixing and mastering, working in a professional studio environment and more.
Accommodation may also be available to applicants on a first-come-first-serve basis. Those interested can send in their applications through here. Some music production skills seem to be desirable, per the submission form, but by no means a prerequisite. More info on the course is available on the GMI website. Deadline for application submission is Wednesday, August 28, 2019.
